Younger You Had Plans

Younger You Had Plans

When you were little, nobody asked whether your dreams were sensible.

You were going to ride horses. Travel the world. See whales. Write books. Become a pirate. Swim in beautiful places. Have adventures. Wear whatever made you happy.

Maybe your plans were completely ridiculous. That was sort of the point.

You didn’t worry about whether you were qualified enough, thin enough, brave enough, wealthy enough or whether everyone else thought it was a good idea.

You just imagined the life you wanted to lead.

Then somewhere along the way, life got serious.

Jobs to do. Bills to pay. Mayne relationships and children. People who needed us. Deadlines. Laundry. Food shopping. Long working days and seemingly endless lists of things that need sorting out.

Our bodies change. Our confidence changes.

And sometimes simply keeping everything moving takes everything we have.

Without really noticing, the plans we once had for ourselves can slowly get pushed further and further down the list.

Maybe next year.

Maybe when I’ve got more money.

Maybe when work settles down.

Maybe when I feel more confident.

Maybe when I’ve lost some weight.

Maybe one day.

Tallulahs is our reminder not to let “one day” become never.

This is bigger than swimwear

Yes, Tallulahs makes swimsuits.

Bright ones. Playful ones. The sort that were never designed for quietly blending into the background.

But the idea behind Tallulahs was never really just about bikinis.

It’s about what putting one on can represent.Wearing the swimsuit when part of you wants to hide.Getting into the photograph instead of always being the person taking it.

Booking the trip.

Getting in the sea.

Trying something new.

Taking solo trips.

Starting something new.

Changing your mind.

Having another dream.

Doing something for no better reason than you really want to.

Somewhere inside the sensible adult dealing with tomorrow's diary and next month's bills is still the person who once thought life was going to be one enormous adventure.

She didn't disappear.

Sometimes she just gets a little difficult to hear.

This isn't about going backwards

We don't want to become our younger selves again.

We've earned everything that's happened since.

The wisdom. The scars. The stories. The people we've loved. The mistakes. The successes. The bodies that have carried us through all of it.

Tallulahs isn't about wishing any of that away.

It's about remembering the bit of us that existed before we learned to make ourselves smaller.

Before we became so aware of how we looked.

Before we worried about whether people approved.

Before every idea needed a spreadsheet and a five-year plan, there was a version of you who thought you were capable of absolutely anything.

Maybe she was onto something.

So here's your reminder

Wear the swimsuit.

Take the photo.

Book the trip.

Get in the sea.

Change direction.

Start again.

Be unapologetically you.

You don't need to wait for a different body, a quieter life or some future version of yourself who suddenly feels completely ready.

Because she dreamed big.

Don't let her down.

Younger you had plans.

Maybe it's time to remember what they were.

What did younger you dream about?

Tell us! We hear you!
